Stephen King Website

Compiling a prolific author's content in one place for fans.
The marketing team needed a site to showcase Stephen King’s vast body of work in an easy to understand and visually interesting way, connect fans of the Dark Tower series, and serve as a catch-all for new release information, news articles, and Stephen King Q+A.

With no previously existing branding besides piles of book covers, I worked with my team to strategize page content and user flows, establish new and evocative branding, and design and develop a modular site.

Working with my team, I captured a visual tone that felt like the existing Stephen King books without being too spooky and established a design system implemented in both light and dark modes. Once designs were approved, I developed a significant portion of the front-end code for the site, focusing on animation triggers, fun easter eggs, and the ability to version templates from the marketing team’s content through the existing database.
In the first phase of the project, I developed a series of wireframes to establish the structure of the site and determine functionality, user flow, and content hierarchy.
Our team needed to determine the overall look and feel of the site while simultaneously building out the wireframes. I explored a variety of visual directions, imagery, typefaces, and color schemes, and compiled three main style tiles to share with the client. The middle, high contrast tile was selected.
