JCSU Website Redesign

Illuminating the legacy and dynamic journey of a respected HBCU.
As the university rebranded, they needed an updated website to match their new look and feel. Based on shining a light on the HBCU, the refreshed visuals feature bold colors and light beam iconography, and focus on bringing the campus to life through lifestyle imagery.

I created a complex system of page templates and reusable modular components that can hold infinite combinations of content for this huge, and still growing, website.

In the UI design system, I leaned into the playfulness of the new branding and created highlight animations, a comprehensive system of iconography and a flexible system that spotlights university features.
To help the main navigation hold a large number of pages but still be visually clean and user friendly, I created a mega menu with complex functionality. A simplified main menu with high-priority links is ever-present on the page and triggers open the expanded mega menu. The mega menu is tiered, with important pages at the beginning of their funnels on the left and their subsequent internal pages visible in the middle column after hovering. In the right column I included an evergreen utility menu with secondary links and social details.
